Assistant-in-Training (Superintendent)

In collaboration with the golf course management team, the assistant – in – training helps direct staff and participates in the maintenance and daily preparation of the golf course.

Essential Job Functions:
- Motivates and directs staff on a daily basis.
- Trains new staff on standard operating procedures and safe operation of all equipment.
- Assists in the daily set up and maintenance of all areas, of golf course grounds with an emphasis on greens, tees and fairways.
- Involved in all aspects of IPM and BMP programs including fertilizer and pesticide calibration and applications and daily moisture management.
- Participate in the operation, maintenance, and installation of irrigation and drainage systems, and in the operation and maintenance of pumps.

Education:
- High School Diploma required. Higher education degree in Turf Management, Agronomy or Horticulture preferred. Must obtain any required local and state licenses or certifications.

Experience:
- Previous maintenance experience in golf operations required. A minimum of two years’ experience in the golf industry. Working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course greens, tees and fairways.
